Dirty Dozen-Do This

Many people are not aware of how detrimental  exposure to environmental toxics, such as pesticides and herbicides in our food, is to our health. Unfortunately, the reality is that we all live in and absorb a sea of goop into our bodies that is not only harmful, but is now being increasingly recognized as one of the primary drivers of most chronic diseases, including Cancer. One of the most important things we can do for our health, then, is to eat a wide variety of veggies and fruit to supply the thousands of phytonutrients needed to help combat this assault on our health. Ironically, though, it is often the residual pollutants found on agricultural products that contribute the most to this problem.

For this reason, we should try to consume organic products where possible. But due to cost and other concerns, this is not always possible. Fortunately, the Environental Working Group pouts out a list of a dozen of the items that have the highest pesticide load. I’ve put a link to their site here and suggest you sign up and download a pdf of the Dirty Dozen and paste it on your refrigerator or put their app on your phone.  Your body will thank you.
